I was looking through Build today to write some quick notes on what Trevor recommends in terms of the the back's relationship to the top. He recommends that the back be pitched a specified number of semitones higher than the top when tapped. Then I started wondering how to measure that.

This chart to the rescue: http://www.indiana.edu/~emusic/hertz.htm

Thought some of you might find it helpful.

For those with Design, Appendix III-1, p AIII-1, back of the book. It gives the note frequencies at 10 cent intervals from A1-50c (53.4Hz) to B8+50c (8133.7Hz) for A440Hz equal temperament.

Thanks, Trevor. I didn't realize that.
